 As
is tradition at St. John’s Prep School, our Year 6 class went
on the annual ski trip to Morzine.
Morzine is situated in the Portes du Soleil, one of the largest linked international ski areas in the world. The resort is set in a picturesque valley, and has a distinct charm with its traditional chalet style architecture. Morzine is excellent for skiers of all ages.
This trip allowed pupils to experience and learn a new skill and for those able skiers, a chance to further their abilities in this sport.
The children received a total of 4 hours of skiing lessons a day with a lavish buffet lunch in between. Instruction was provided by ESF Professional Instructors who have a policy of not just being mountain guides but rather teaching the children the true art of Skiing. With the numerous ski slopes in Morzine, the pupils had the luxury of skiing on a slope which matched their ability ensuring safe tutelage.
However the typical day in Morzine would not end here. Each day the children were invited to swim in a dual indoor/outdoor heated swimming pool, followed by a dinner so considerable it had to be experienced to be believed.
The most important factor in this trip however was the opportunity for the children to experience the independence of being on holiday without parental supervision. Something we hope adds strength to their characters, in anticipation of their moving on to Senior School life.
An experience we hope the children will fondly remember for many years.
